March 11 – 12, 2017
Loon Mountain, New Hampshire

Bringing together the next generation of great entrepreneurs and the next generation of great venture investors for a weekend of fun, networking and shredding the New England slopes.

Ski.VC will be a relaxing weekend for the Underscore.VC community to connect and enjoy New Hampshire’s White Mountains. The only KPI? No broken bones. We encourage bringing your significant others and fellow techies along with you to share in this getaway.

We will host the weekend at The Mountain Club on Loon, a slopeside, ski in/out resort. On Saturday evening and Sunday morning we will host a few informal gatherings for meaningful peer connections over some hot cocoa and cocktails. Also, feel free to extend your stay if you would like to arrive early or depart late – just let us know the dates and we’ll handle the rest.

9AM-4PM Skiing (Optional)
6PM-9PM Drinks and Dinner at the Black Diamond Pub

Sunday, March 12

Richard shredding the slopes

Meet Richard Dulude, Principal & Investment Manager at Underscore.VC
(a.k.a the Ski.VC)

A Colorado native, Richard had the good fortune to pick up skiing at an early age, and committed himself fully to it, eventually making US Men’s Freestyle Ski Team at the age of 17 (the second youngest to date). Richard competed in college at Cornell University until 2006 where he was the first alternate on the US Men’s Freestyle Ski Team at Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.

Realizing that “the mind lasts longer than the body”, he went on to become an entrepreneur and fan/supporter of those “in the gate” as a venture capitalist, where he looks to help the next generation of great entrepreneurs and investors shred their run!

Want to take a few runs and share the lift / your ambitions with Ski.VC?!

Join us on the slopes at the inaugural Underscore.VC ski weekend!

What's the application all about?

Unfortunately we only have so many spaces and hotel rooms available so we need to have an application to make sure that we can accommodate everyone.  Assuming this year goes well, we hope to expand this even more for next year to accommodate more people!

Will you provide transportation from Boston?

Transportation to Loon Mountain is on your own.  We will try to facilitate carpools, if needed, but will not have any organized or guaranteed transportation.

Who will be attending?

We have brought together the best group of the next generation of great entrepreneurs and venture investors to join us for the weekend.  Most attendees are 20- and 30-somethings who are founders of early stage startups in Boston, emerging leaders at high-growth tech companies and up and coming venture investors.

Can I come up Friday night?

Absolutely! We have a block of hotel rooms available for both Friday and Saturday night, if you want to come up to Loon on Friday night to get an extra day or skiing in, you’ll just need to pay for an extra night in the hotel and we’ll help take care of the rest.

Do I need to stay at Loon Mountain Club?

If you have your own accommodations or want to stay in a different hotel at Loon, we would still love for you to join us for the Ski.VC weekend activities. Just email Cory Bolotsky to let him know and we will help figure out logistics!

What's the cost?

Underscore.VC has gotten group rates for the weekend and will subsidize costs a bit, as well as providing some meals and activities. Hotel rooms will be $195-220 per room, lift tickets are $85 per day and rentals are $40 per day.

We tried to get the best rates possible so hopefully that works for you, or your company can cover the costs. If you really want to join and have trouble with the cost, let us know and we will see if we can find a sponsor to subsidize the costs further.

Can I bring a +1?

Absolutely, this is a weekend of fun and we’d love for you to bring with you another outstanding friend in the Boston tech community with you.

Significant others and +1’s are always welcome, whether they work in tech, or not!

What if I don't know how to Ski or Snowboard?

Not all of us are as talented as Richard, so no worries! You are encouraged to take a lesson, try the bunny slopes or just enjoy the food and drinks.

That said, the resort has a spa and bar and plenty of other activities to keep you occupied during the day if getting on the mountain isn’t for you. There is probably wi-fi somewhere too if you need to catchup on emails and hack… but that’s not very “retreat-like”.

I'm planning to come by myself, can I share a room with someone?

That’s up to you. If you want to save a bit of money, we’d be happy to pair you in a 2-bed studio with someone else joining us on their own. We will try our best to keep roommates of the same gender, but we will let you know if we have any trouble with that to make sure you’re okay with your rooming situation. If you do want to share a room, the cost will be just $110 for the night.

Who do I contact with additional questions?

For any questions just email Cory Bolotsky, community manager at Underscore.VC, at cory@underscore.vc!
